What awards can I apply for?
There is a place and activity for everyone within the American Falls FFA Chapter. We provide numerous awards and applications to our members and do not limit participation in any area. Check out the various award areas below:
CDE & LDE: For students interested in a specific content area. Contests are held throughout the year. Events range from speaking to floral design to welding.
Degrees & Star Awards: For students with a Supervised Agricultural Experience and have shown interest and engagement in agricultural courses as well as FFA leadership development.
Proficiency Awards: For students with a Supervised Agricultural Experience that has grown over the course of several years.
Agriscience Fair: For students interested in the scientific process and complete a manuscript and experiment.
National Chapter Award (below): For students interested in organizing and coordinating local events. The FFA Officer Team oversees the chapter's National Chapter Award application.
Band, Chorus, & Talent (below): For students with a unique talent with an instrument, singing, or a different talent.
The National Chapter Award Program is designed to recognize FFA chapters that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization. These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality Chapter Standards (NQCS) and a Program of Activities (POA) that emphasize growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture.
Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership. In order to qualify for a state or national award, the chapter must complete at least 15 activities: one for each of the five quality standards in each of the three divisions.
At the state level, National Chapter Applications are ranked first through tenth place, and are given a 1, 2, or 3-star rating. Only high-quality applications move on the national level.
At the national level, National Chapter Applications are given a 1, 2, or 3-star rating. Ten chapters with the best event in each of the three committee areas (growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture) are recognized as Premier Chapters and compete at the national convention for a spot as the top premier chapter in their respective areas. The ten chapters with the highest overall National Chapter Application scores are recognized as Model of Excellence chapters, with one chapter being selected as the national champion.
American Falls FFA is one of two Idaho FFA chapters that have received recognition in both the Premier Chapter area and Model of Excellence area. Chapter FFA Officers typically complete the application on behalf of the entire chapter. Talk to an advisor if you are interested in becoming part of American Falls' National Chapter Award legacy!
